Emergency Response to Choa Chu Kang Flat Fire
A recent incident in Choa Chu Kang has underscored the importance of fire safety awareness within the community. On the night of August 29, emergency services were called to respond to a fire that broke out at Block 287 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2, prompting swift action from local authorities.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that the blaze was detected around 9:05 PM, igniting items in a second-floor bedroom. The SCDF effectively contained the situation using water jets, minimizing potential damage and risk.
Two individuals from the impacted unit experienced smoke inhalation and required hospitalization; however, both have since been discharged. Fortunately, prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, two others had already evacuated from their residence.
In addition to addressing the immediate crisis, approximately 200 residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure while investigations into the cause of the fire commenced. Community leaders, including Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim—Member of Parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC—expressed gratitude towards the SCDF and police for their rapid response during this emergency.
